Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Bayern Mitte eG enters into a long-term partnership with terahash.energy GmbH

Augsburg in January 2024 – terahash.energy GmbH takes further strategic steps. Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Bayern Mitte eG, a Bavarian cooperative bank based in Ingolstadt, enters into a strategic partnership with terahash.energy GmbH. Under a sponsorship agreement, the two partners will collaborate on advancing topics related to the cryptocurrency and technology of Bitcoin.

Together for the future. Together innovative. Together for Bitcoin.

The Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Bayern Mitte eG, founded around 130 years ago, has been offering its customers services related to Bitcoin since April 2022, becoming the first regional bank in Germany to do so. The VR Bank exclusively focuses on the cryptocurrency Bitcoin.

The terahash.energy GmbH was founded in January 2023. The young startup emerged as a spin-off from the Kläger Group, a family-owned business with over 70 years of history in the Augsburg region. Serving as a gateway to the world of Bitcoin, the terahash.space platform provides a comprehensive digital space to connect people and businesses, both within and outside the Bitcoin market environment. With tailored educational and consulting offerings, terahash aims to bring Bitcoin closer to people and businesses.

The company positions itself as a consulting and planning partner in the field of Bitcoin energy and data centers. According to terahash, the use of renewable energies combined with innovative technologies, such as water-cooled and highly flexible Bitcoin data centers, will play a crucial role in the energy transition and green transformation. The Energy Lab, established in this context (Bitcoin Data Center / Research Center), is intended for both research purposes and to showcase the technology businesses and political sectors.

The bank will actively support the startup over the next two years to collaboratively develop service and educational offerings. The reliability and innovative capabilities of the bank, combined with the extensive expertise of the startup, provide the ideal foundation for advancing the joint project successfully.

„Terahash and VR Bank Bayern Mitte complement each other perfectly. The strategic partnership is an important step for us, we can leverage synergies and combine our strengths even more effectively,” summarizes Kristian Kläger, CEO of terahash.energy GmbH, regarding the future cooperation.

„We are expanding our capabilities within our Bitcoin strategy with the broad expertise of terahash in the field of Bitcoin and mining. Together, we can educate and develop solutions for our customers,” adds Andreas Streb, Deputy Chairman of the Board of VR Bank Bayern Mitte eG.

2nd Bitcoin Forum in the planning stage – powered by terahash

In 2023, VR Bank Bayern Mitte eG initiated the 1st Bitcoin Forum in Ingolstadt in collaboration with the Technical University of Ingolstadt. The second edition is scheduled for April 12, 2024. Due to high demand, this year’s event will take place at the municipal theatre in Ingolstadt. There will also be a Bitcoin Business & Energy Area primarily for B2B interested parties and companies, planned, and organized by terahash. A significant initial milestone in the collaborative activities of terahash.energy GmbH and Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Bayern Mitte.
