From the Blocktrainer Event in Cologne to BTCHEL in Helsinki

Within a single week, terahash attended two Bitcoin events: the sixth Blocktrainer Event in Cologne and BTCHEL in Helsinki, where we had our own booth and took part in talks and panels.

Blocktrainer Event in Cologne: A tradition that gets better every year

On Saturday, September 19, the Blocktrainer Event took place for the sixth time, and for the third time we gathered in Cologne. Tanja, Veronika, Harro and, of course, our CEO Kris represented the terahash team. For us, this event is more than just a date in the calendar: since Blocktrainer holds a stake in terahash, our connection to this community goes far beyond a shared interest.

One of the highlights of the day was Kris’ keynote “From Hashrate to Trust: Why Community Is the Real Proof of Work.” Instead of speaking down from the stage, he stood in the middle of the audience, at eye level with the very people his talk was about. For 25 minutes, he held the room spellbound and showed how differently a speech can land when you remove the distance.

Trust comes from Proof of Work – in the community, too

Therein lies perhaps the most beautiful insight of the day: in the Bitcoin network, trust is not built on promises but on verifiable work, the Proof of Work. The same is true of a community. Trust doesn’t grow on stage, but in the countless encounters, conversations and moments in which people show up for one another.

There were plenty of those in Cologne. We were thrilled to reconnect with so many plebs and members of the Blocktrainer community and to meet many new faces. Exciting conversations, fresh ideas and heartfelt reunions made the day truly special.

BTCHEL 2026: The Nordic Bitcoin Conference in Helsinki

Just a few days later, Charlie, Leo and Fabian headed on to Finland. On September 25 and 26, BTCHEL 2026, the second edition of the largest Bitcoin conference in the Nordics, took place at Kaapelitehdas, the Cable Factory in Helsinki. The 2025 premiere had already attracted more than 1,000 attendees, over 70 speakers and more than 20 partners. This year, the program ran across three stages and set clear priorities: Bitcoin mining, energy, European regulation and financial sovereignty, all viewed through a Nordic lens.

This focus is a perfect fit for us, because with our mining sites in Finland, we are ourselves part of the Nordic Bitcoin ecosystem. As an Innovator Tier sponsor, we had our own booth in the main exhibition area, where we held numerous interesting conversations over the two days.

Every Watt Counts: Our contributions on stage

On Friday, Charlie took to the Main Stage to deliver his keynote “Every Watt Counts: From Hashrate to Energy Infrastructure.” It explored how Bitcoin mining is evolving from a pure hashrate topic into a genuine building block of energy infrastructure, a subject that shapes our work at terahash every single day.

Shortly afterwards, Fabian and Leo followed with their fireside chat “Bearmarket Infrastructure: Efficient & Flexible” on the OG Stage. The focus: how mining infrastructure needs to be designed so that it remains efficient and flexible even in challenging market phases.

European Mining Summit: Where Bitcoin mining meets energy

Even before the main conference, we were present at the European Mining Summit (EMS) on September 23. This side event, co-hosted by BTCHEL and EBEA (European Bitcoin Energy Association), brings together Bitcoin miners and the Nordic energy sector. With topics such as grid stability, heat recovery and the use of surplus energy, the event felt tailor-made for us. Charlie moderated a panel there and contributed our perspective from operating our own mining sites. Fabian also took part in a panel: on the topic “From Kilowatts to Cashflow: The Economics of Bitcoin Mining,” he shared terahash’s hands-on experience.

Thank you and see you next time

Thank you to the entire Blocktrainer team, to the organizers of BTCHEL and the European Mining Summit, and to everyone who was there and talked with us.

Did you miss us, or would you like to continue a conversation?

Then feel free to get in touch!
